One platform.
Every submission.
Zero surprises.
Writers track every piece they have out in the world. Publications accept, hold, or pass with a single click. The moment something is accepted — every other queue updates automatically.
Your editorial workflow, simplified
No more email threads or spreadsheet juggling. Every decision lives in one place and triggers exactly what needs to happen next.
Submissions arrive automatically
Share your unique Byline link. Writers submit directly — every piece lands in your organized queue with the author's name, genre, word count, and cover letter.
Accept, Hold, or Pass — one click
Open a submission, read the piece, and make your call. Hit Accept, Hold, or Pass right from the queue. The writer is notified the instant you decide.
Taken pieces flag themselves
When you accept a piece, Byline marks it taken across every other publication holding it. You'll never spend time on work that's already been placed.

The problem
Managing submissions is chaos
Spreadsheets, email threads, sticky notes — a patchwork system held together by memory and good intentions. Duplicate acceptances. Embarrassing retractions. Editors evaluating work that was placed somewhere else weeks ago.
The solution
Every piece has a live status
One click to accept, pass, or hold. The writer knows immediately. Every other publication holding that piece sees it flagged as taken. No dropped balls, no awkward follow-up emails, no wasted reading time.

Common questions
Does Byline read or store my writing?
No. Byline is a routing and tracking tool. When you submit through a publication's Byline link, your manuscript goes directly to that publication — we never access or store the content of your work.
What if a publication isn't on Byline?
No problem. You can log any submission manually — whether you sent it by email, Submittable, or carrier pigeon. Byline tracks it; you update the status yourself when you hear back. It works as a standalone tracker even if the publication never joins.
How does auto-withdrawal work?
The moment an editor accepts your piece, Byline automatically marks it as taken in every other publication's queue that's holding it. Other editors see it flagged immediately — no emails to send, no awkward retractions.
Do writers need an account to submit to a publication?
No. Any writer can submit through a publication's unique Byline link without creating an account. A Byline writer account just gives you the dashboard to track everything in one place.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. No contracts, no lock-in, no cancellation fees. Cancel from your account settings in one click and you won't be charged again.
Who built this?
Byline was built by a writer who got tired of managing submissions in a spreadsheet. The full story is on the About page.
